The Department of Architecture and Town Planning at University of Kotli is an opportunity to set a new era for architecture in Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The department gears itself towards toward the objective of bringing up high level professional specializing architecture design and town planning. It will develop comprehensive understanding of relationship between people, building & their environment, and the need to relate building and the spaces between them to human needs and scales considering socio-cultural, psychological environmental and technology aspects.

Architecture must flow from the mind of the architect always addressing the issues of tradition, function, energy efficiency, climate control & structural stability.

The Department aims to deal with question of tradition & modernity, comfort, environmental sustainability, appropriate architecture, not as separate subjects in an isolated manner. Every assignment to project in the subject of architectural Design will incorporate these elements at the simple to complex levels so that these issues become an integral part of student thinking.

Major components of this program are architecture Design, Architecture Analysis, History & theory of Architecture, Digital Tools for Architects, Architecture & the Environment, Landscape Theories, Urban open Space Design, Building Technology: Material, Construction, and Structures.

The Graduates of this department have various career choices. They can go into professional field as practicing architect. They can open up their own consultancy firms after acquiring suitable experience.
