Introduction: Past and Present of the Department of Education

Welcome to the Department of Education at the University of Kotli, AJ&K. UoK started its first program, M. A. Education (02 year) in 2015 under the umbrella of Education Department. Two batches of 02 year M. A. Education (11+26=37 students) have completed their degree with research work (Thesis or Project) till Summer Semester 2018. Third batch of M. A. Education (02 year) program, enrolled in Semester Spring 2018 is now in 2nd semester. This (3rd) batch of M. A. Education consists of 43 students. Whereas for admission in forth batch of M. A. Education more than 70 candidates applied and out of them 43 were enrolled who are studying in their 1st semester.

B. Ed (Hons) Elementary (BS-Education 04 year) had also been started with effect from the Semester Fall 2017 with the enrollment of 19 students, which has also been completed two semester course work till the end of Semester Spring 2018 and now in third semester. Forty two (43) students have got admission in 2nd batch of B. Ed (Hons) Elementary (04 year) and their classes have also been started with effect from November 26, 2018.

More than 70 candidates applied for M. Phil Education (02 year) in Semester Spring 2019, from which 17 candidates qualified U-GAT and after Interview and Department Test 15 were enrolled who have started their first semester with effect from March 2019.

 

Besides the above programs the Department of Education has conducted a number of conferences, seminars, academic, speech and debate sessions by involving national level experts of the field of education, researchers and key note speakers. The students of all classes of the Department of Education are provided maximum opportunities/chances to plan, manage, conduct and participate actively in such activities/functions and gain knowledge and confidence through personal experiences.

Department of Education: Target and Destination

Education is the most important field of studies because the graduates of the field of Education directly link with human capital. Education Department of the University prepares such professionals who have great impact and influence on the future of humanity. Teachers, educational planners, managers, administrators and leaders are brought up by this department. So, the responsibility and performance of the persons related to this department especially the faculty of this department matters much in nation building. The qualified, experienced, creative and visionary faculty of the Department of Education is aware of such role, responsibilities, national demands and expectations. Therefore, all available and possible resources are being utilized, serious, sincere and practical steps are being taken, and all possible efforts are made to provide serious, sincere, competent professionals having positive, creative and constructive approach towards national development.

To provide sensible, dedicated, well aware and skillful human resources as school, college and university level teachers the Department of Education is focusing upon behaviour formation and training of individuals. Especially promotion of research culture among school and college level teachers is being targeted by the Department (as research project/thesis is compulsory component of B. Ed, M. A. and M. Phil levels through which local problems related to the field of education are targeted).

Individuals having a sense of contribution in the field of Education (teaching-learning process) are welcome to take admission in the programs offered by the Department of Education. After getting degrees in the field of Education, graduates can successfully avail a number of job opportunities as junior and senior teachers, lecturers, head teachers, college lecturers and so on. Along with fair source of earning and respectable status in the society, the graduates of the field of EDUCATION can play a vital role in social and personal development of future of the nation.

Department of Education: Future Planning and Offers/Programs

Short term and long term Teachers Training Programs for different level teachers, pedagogical courses, classroom management skills development, training on testing and assessment, research methodology, data analysis techniques etc. and PhD in Education are also in planning process by the Department of Education, which will be started in near future Insha ALLAH.

NOW the Department of EDUCATION UoKAJK offers admission in:

  1. B. Ed (Hons) Elementary (04 Year/08 Semesters)

    Eligibility Criteria: Intermediate/FA/FSc/ICS/I. Com or equivalent (12 Year Education) with 2nd division

  2. MA Education (02 Year/04 Semesters)

    Eligibility Criteria: Graduation/BA/BSc/BCS/B.Com or equivalent (14 Year Education) with 2nd division

  3. B. Ed (1.5 Year/03 Semesters)

    Eligibility Criteria: Master Degree in any subject or equivalent (16 Year Education) with 2nd division

  4. M. Phil Education (02 Year/04 Semesters)

    Eligibility Criteria: MA Education/M. Ed or equivalent (16 Year Education) with 2nd division/no 3rd Division in academic career

HEC Pakistan’s U-GAT/UOKAJK U-GAT + Department Entry Test and Interview qualified candidates

B.ED (HONS) ELEMENTARY (4 YEARS) PROGRAM

  2. Age Limit: Age limit is as per prescribed the rules of the University of Kotli Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UoKAJK).
